CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

So I was in the mood to do some baking and decided to make the classic chocolate chip cookie.  You can never go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie.


I ended up following the recipe from Betty Crocker which you can read here, but I will put the recipe on here as well for easy access.
(EDIT: the recipe makes a lot more cookies than shown...I didn't take these pictures until almost all were gone.  My bad!)


INGREDIENTS:
3/4
cup granulated sugar
3/4
cup packed brown sugar
1
cup butter or margarine, softened 
1
teaspoon vanilla
1
egg
2 1/4
cups all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon baking soda
1/2
teaspoon salt
1
cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional.  I did not do this, but it sounds like a good thing to add)
1
package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

DIRECTIONS:



  • 1 Heat oven to 375ºF.
  • 2 Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
  • 3 Spoon dough into rounded tablespoonfuls and place them about 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet.
  • 4 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
  • Although warm cookies are, like, the absolutely best, I think I actually preferred these cookies once they were all the way cooled.  But hey, to each there own.
