My Favorite Apps

Like most people, I spend a vast majority of my spare time on my phone.  Like a lot.

Since I spend so much time on my phone, I thought I would tell you some of the apps on my phone that I am absolutely addicted too.  So here we go!!!!

1. Buzzfeed
Some of the news stories aren't the most credible/are of low integrity, but I always enjoy taking all of those quizzes such as, "What kind of potato are you?", and some interesting articles like "21 Clever Tricks All Procrastinators Should Know" which I definitely didn't read.......
Very cool app, filled with lots of content that keeps me entertained forever.

2. Instagram
I am absolutely addicted to Instagram.  I don't exactly know why; maybe the fact that I can creep on people's amazing lives through pictures that makes me use this app all the time.  I guess I live vicariously through other's Instagram photos.  Some people have such good Instagram themes...like seriously it looks so good and I am so jealous!  Teach me please.

3. VSCO Cam
Speaking of photos, I also love to take them myself which generally always requires some sort of photo-editing/filter thingy to it.  I found this one to have all the nice filters that I could have ever wanted along with options such as saturation, exposure, fading setting, the opportunities are endless.  It's great for all of my photo needs.

What are some of your favorite apps?

Let me know!

EXCITING NEWS

Heya everyone!!

As you might know, I have been waiting for some news about a potential internship this summer that would be really cool and definitely look good on a resumé.  Well on Friday, I found out that I GOT IT. WOOOOOOOO!  I'm so excited I could run 12 miles right now!!!!!!  Well maybe not, but you know what I mean...

Basically, I will be working in a small team and we are doing some sort of research about social media mining - right up my alley!  I'm not sure the exact details yet (I have to set up some meeting within the next couple of weeks) but I am over the moon ecstatic about this project.  I get to work with some really awesome people

I am so so so thankful for the opportunity to do this internship and I think that it will help me not only professionally to get more opportunities, but personally.  I will learn time management, team building, and critical thinking skills (which I think everyone should know).

I am just so excited right now.  I'm pretty sure I ran around the room when I found out.

I will talk to you guys very soon!!

Review | Whiplash

It takes me ages to watch movies.
And so after hearing the reviews and the Oscar noms(and win!),
I have finally caught up with society and saw Whiplash for the first time and WOW.  Just wow.

I'm generally quite picky with "artsy", different types of films, mainly because I find the majority of them very boring and slow-moving, but this...this movie was different.

Without giving away too much of the plot, this film is about a young man(played by Miles Teller), who is a student at a prestigious music college where he plays percussion on a drum set, and catches the attention of a very...eccentric music teacher(played by J.K. Simmons).  Simmons' character's unique teaching methods provide great struggle for Teller and....well I can't tell you what happens because you have to find out yourself ;D

I was genuinely interested in seeing if this movie lived up to it's hype, and I think that it did!
There were moments of struggle where I just wanted to reach through the screen and hug the character, but there was also the most determination to succeed that I have ever seen.
The constant struggle between Teller's character's determination for success and be "one of the greats" and his physical/mental limits are what made the movie so interesting.
(I think that we can all relate to this in some way)
Teller and Simmons were spectacular in this film, honestly.  I believed what they said and I felt what they felt.  Bravo. *insert clapping emoji*

Another thing is the music.
Obviously this movie is about music, particularly jazz, but even if you are not fond of this type of movie, I believe that you will enjoy it.
I often found myself tapping along to the beats(maybe that's just my inner band geek).  That's always a good sign. Haaa!

Here is the trailer if you have yet to see it:

Seriously. go. see. it.

Happy internet-ing,

Review: "Smoke + Mirrors" album | Imagine Dragons

I have always been an Imagine Dragons fan.  There unique sound and culmination of different instruments really makes their music appealing to me.
Their second album Smoke + Mirrors recently got released on Feb. 27th, 2015.
After their first album exploded with popularity, everyone had very high expectations.
I didn't get the chance to listen to it right away but I read some very mixed reviews.  Some people loved their different sound, while others did not appreciate it.
I was actually quite surprised by the amount of criticism it received.  Sure it sounded different than the first album, but I appreciated how they were trying new styles of music.

I remember reading that Dan Reynolds, lead vocalist of Imagine Dragons, didn't want to feel confined to ONE certain type of music.  And I completely agree.  i think that one of the great things about music is the freedom to express yourself.

After listening to the album off and on for a couple of weeks, I have developed some favorites:

1. Dream

2. Gold

3.  It Comes Back To You

I give the album ***/***** stars.
I really do like the sound of the whole album but I found that a lot of the songs sound the same.  Maybe I just need to listen to it more...

Have you listened to the album yet?  What do you think?
Let me know!

Happy internet-ing!
