A Sad Day

This is Libby.
My beautiful, wonderful, sometimes annoying, always loving companion for about 10 years.
She has reached that age where they have lived a long life but yet selfishly, we as humans don't want them to leave us.
I had occasionally thought about what it would be like without Libby, but then I got sad and pushed it to the back of my mind.

4 days ago, Libby started throwing up everywhere and started going downhill very quickly.  The vet is coming over tomorrow to look at her and I'm(*fingers crossed*) hoping for good news.

All of this happening really got me thinking about life and about death, and especially about the things that mean a lot to me.  Like most pet owners(I hope) love their pets unconditionally, as do I to Libby.  I guess I have always taken her presence for granted and got mad when she annoyed me, jumped on the table, or tried to steal food off my plate- I know this will sound odd but these are some of the things that I will miss the most. Much more than you know.
I will also miss how she greeted me at the door when I came home like I was the best thing to happen to her; how excited she got when she was getting a treat or going for a walk; and how she was always there for me to talk to( which sounds weird but pets are very good listeners) and watch movies with and sit in the sun with and share the couch with....

Pets have that strange effect on humans that is just so magical and beautiful, and they bring so much joy to everything. Pets are just the best.

(I'm sorry this was not a regular post that I do but I wanted to write about this, as I find writing very therapeutic.)

Well, I hope the news is good for Libby tomorrow!
And if you have a pet, go give them a hug. I'm sure they will love it and you will too.

Happy internet-ing, peeps!
E
