How to get over a cold

Well the time has come...
I got my first cold of the winter season.
I was getting a bit optimistic since it's March and I had yet to get sick this year.  But when I went home during spring break, my dad had a sinus infection and my mom had a viral infection, so me getting sick was pretty much inevitable.

I thought I would share some "Kick the Cold's Butt" tips with y'all:

1. Get some shut eye.  Seriously, being sick is a great excuse to stay cuddled up in your bed all day. (and your body needs to rest)

2. If you are able to do so, I would also recommend getting some exercise. Physical activity is great at getting your body to fight against illness and gets your blood flowing!

3.  Drink plenty of water.  Being sick severely dehydrates your body, so you need to make sure to replace the water that you "lose".  It will help you get better faster.

4. I don't know if this works from a medical stand point, but when I'm sick I eat hot soup or drink cold orange juice(filled with vitamin C btw!).  It generally makes me feel better and it's soothing on a sore throat.

5. Last but not least, take a hot shower or bath.  It not only makes you feel clean but the humidity from the steam helps decongest your body and helps ease coughing fits.

If you are sick now, know that it will be over soon; you just need to push through.  Follow these tips and you will be better in no time!

That's all for now BYE,
E

A letter to my younger self

Dear past Emily,
It's me, Emily.  Your future self.
I'm doing pretty good.  School is tough, but when has it not been.  You can handle it.  Life's pretty tough too; whoever said life was easy obviously lied!
But I just have to say please, please, please do something to your hair.  Embrace the mane.  Don't always put it in a bun!  A lot of people would kill to have your curly hair.
Don't argue with mom and dad over silly things.  In the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world if you couldn't go to the movies that ONE time.  They are just looking out for your best interests.  One day, you will appreciate all that they do for you.  And mom's home-cooking when you live on your own.
Speaking of that, make sure to appreciate the time you have with the people in your life.  Time has a nasty habit of taking people away from you.  Cherish every moment with them.  Don't be so stubborn when Grandma tries to teach you to play the piano.  One day you are going to regret that.

Don't be so hard on yourself.  Mistakes happen.  There's nothing that you can do.  Worrying isn't gonna solve anything except to make you an emotional wreck.  You live and you learn.
Also do your own thing.  Don't always follow the crowd.  They are not always the most reliable people to be around.  You are talented and have so many ideas that are awesome; go out and show the world what you can do!
Cut out the people in your life who bring you down.  They are not worth your time.  You deserve so much better than them.

You can do it!  I believe in us.
Keep doing amazing things, keep being curious, and keep being awesome.
Let's make ourself proud.
Love, Emily

Lush goodies!!

So I have been hearing about Lush almost everywhere, and everybody is raving about there products.  So when I saw that they had a store in the Mall of America, I knew that I absolutely HAD to go in and see what all the hype was about.

When I first walked in, I have to admit that I was a bit overwhelmed...

There was just so many products to look at!! From hand lotion, to bath bombs, to hair shampoo, pretty much anything you could ever imagine.  I WANTED TO TRY EVERYTHING.

Everything smelled so good and I know that the ingredients used were pretty natural(which is always a plus!)

I ended up picking a few goodies from there that I am really excited to try:

King of Skin
Smells really good and fresh and leaves your skin amazing! It has cocoa butter and oat milk which leaves your skin feeling soft all day.

Sex Bomb
Again, smells absolutely amazing!  It has hints of jasmine and sage which are good for your skin.  Also makes the bath turn a cool shade of pink :)
Turkish Delight
I also wanted to try this 'shower smoothie' as I thought that sounded a bit funny but let me tell you: AMAZING!  Has hints of jasmine and rose, as well as almond oil and cocoa butter to help keep your skin nice and soft.

That's about all that I got this time!  If you have any products that you want me to try, let me know! I'd be interested in trying some.

See you soon!

What's up Wednesday?

Hey y'all,
This week has been quite busy. Just been finishing up some last minute things before I head back to college on Sunday.

On Tuesday I went to Mr. Peabody and Sherman(review later!) with my mom and sister, so that was fun.  I also finished up some school work that was due later this week.

On Wednesday, it was a bit more of a lazy day: pjs, movies, and my kitty sitting next to me.  As it later warmed up to 40 degrees(woo heat wave), we decided to take a walk by the lake.  There was a lot of people out and about, enjoying the beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures.  What a perfect day!

On Thursday, we headed to the Mall of America, which is always fun!  I went to Lush for the very first time; I had been constantly hearing about how amazing their products were, so I had to go out and try out for myself...LOVED IT.(Stay tuned for more).  I also bought quite more than I want to say at Bath and Body Works...I think I have an addiction...

On Friday, I went bowling at Brunswick XL w/ my family.  It was such a nice place!  Between 10am-noon, they has $0.99 games(which is a bargain!)  So we bowled 3 games(which I totally won every game...obviously...), went home, and then visited my cousin Wes' new home.  It was a brand new build; smelled of fresh paint and new wood.  He gave me some furniture that he didn't want anymore for when I move into my new home in August! I'm excited.  It's all starting to come together.

Hope you all had a fantastic week! <3

Love,
E

#motivationalMonday

Hey guys!
SO it's Monday.  & Mondays generally suck...a lot.  But I thought it would be nice to have a little motivation on Mondays to help jump start your week into being awesome.  SO I decided to call it "#motivationalMonday"(how original, I know haha).  But seriously who doesn't need a little motivation to start a long work-week.

This weeks motivational saying is:

Sometimes it's hard to remember that there is ONLY 1 of you and that no one can be you better than you(if that makes any sense whatsoever...)  So for this week, I want you to try and make yourself 'better'. Whether that is being more healthy or helping someone who needs it; they are all things that can you help YOU be the best YOU.

Go out & change the world!
Lots of loveeeeee,
E

'Review'-SDAY: The Lego Movie

Okay so I am probably about the last person to have gone and seen this movie, but I am so glad that I did.
It featured all of my favorite lego characters voiced by some of my favorite actors (Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Channing Tatum as Superman, the list could go on and on!)

Not only did the plot keep you guessing what was going to happen next but it had a great message of staying true to yourself and that everyone is capable of doing amazing things.

In addition, the animation of the Legos and the action of them being blown up/built/everything else was really breath-taking.  In plain-speak, IT LOOKED REALLY COOL.

If you are worried about it being to 'young and childish' for you, don't! Heck, I'm a 20 year-old college student and I laughed quite a bit, and ooh I just loved it so much.

If you haven't seen it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!

(p.s.  The end credits song was stuck in my head for a good 5 days after seeing it.)
p.p.s. go see this movie.

SPRING BREAK

Hey everyone!

It's nearly springtime!! (Thank God.)
If you're like me, you have been studying for about 12 exams, whilst writing papers, working on numerous projects, and working on top of that; it's time for a well-deserved break.

Whether you are going somewhere exotic or staying local(like me), here are some tips to make the most of your spring break:

1. Take time to relax and enjoy yourself.  You definitely deserve it after all your hard work!

2.  Treat yourself.  Maybe buy something that you wouldn't normally buy.  A little extra splurge won't kill you.

3. Stay healthy.  I know this is difficult(especially if you are going on vacation), but make sure to eat fairly healthy, exercise, and get enough sleep.  (p.s. If you are planning on drinking, make sure to act responsibly and drink enough water.  Safety first!)

3. Tie up loose ends.  Literally even the smallest things like cleaning out your closet or finishing a book that you have wanted to finish can make you feel so accomplished.  *insert fist-bump emoji*

Be safe but most importantly have the time of your life!

Peace out!
E
